Can I grow root vegetables (carrots, potatoes, garlic, etc.) in the EarthBox?Updated a year ago

You can grow several types of root crops and vegetables in our EarthBox Root & Veg thanks to its larger depth than our other EarthBox containers.

Types of Root Crops to Grow:

  • Taproots: Carrots, Beets, Radishes, Turnips, Rutabagas, Parsnips, Jicama, Daikon
  • Bulbs: Onions, Shallots, Garlic, Leeks

Types of Root Crops to Avoid:

  • Tuberous: Potatoes, Yams, Sweet Potatoes, Yucca
    • Although some gardeners have had success, the EarthBox tends to stay too wet for these to thrive.
  • Rhizomes: Asparagus, Tumeric, Rhubarb, Bamboo, Ginger, Arrowroot, Hops
    • Due to the way these plants grow and expand, none of our EarthBox gardening systems are large enough.
