Yes, planting two different crops (i.e. companion planting) or mixing varieties (e.g. different pepper types) are both possible in the EarthBox Original. 

Popular combinations include:

• Peppers and tomatoes
• Tomatoes and eggplant
• Zucchini and summer squash
• Melons and winter squash
• Cucumbers and melons
• Peas and green onions
